Sharm El Sheikh once again strengthened its reputation as one of Egypt’s leading golf destinations after hosting the prestigious Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Qualifier at the outstanding Pickalbatros Golf Beach Resort. The event combined first-class organisation, excellent course conditions, and strong competition, attracting golf enthusiasts for a memorable day of sport on the Red Sea. 

The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is recognised as one of the world’s premier amateur golf tournament series, held annually across numerous international destinations, with winners advancing to the Grand Finals in Türkiye. 

This year’s Sharm El Sheikh qualifier was played in superb conditions, with the Pickalbatros Golf Course receiving widespread praise from players. According to Mr Awad El-Sayed, General Manager of Pickalbatros Golf Beach Resort, the venue has undergone a complete transformation after years of dormancy.

He described the course as a “rebirth” following an extensive renovation program focused on turf quality, green speed consistency, and restoring championship standards. Feedback from competitors confirmed the success of those efforts, with many players praising the greens as true, fast, and premium in quality.

Mr Awad also emphasised the importance of hosting international tournaments in Sharm El Sheikh, noting that such events help showcase the city not only as a beach and diving destination, but also as a growing sports tourism hub capable of welcoming elite competitions.
